I just wish Fellowes dealt with S/B better rather than Sybil calling Branson her “way to escape” or “ticket” out of Downton Abbey — it just seems all so… IDK… like it’s not really love but just as Mary put it, a need for excitement? I still haven’t fully believed that Sybil truly deeply loves Branson because Fellowes haven’t given me a proper inkling of that.
lol i still don’t know if his shock here is because it is truly a shock to him to find out that mary is still in love with him or just shock that violet had the audacity to say it to his face - it has to be the latter right? i mean, he cannot be that oblivious to not know that mary is in love with him this whole time like lol mary tries to be subtle but we know she’s really not
We both know each other’s characters so well in this that it’s often unspoken, we just react to one another as Mary and Matthew.
